• 07/1693: bataille de la Baie des Ours dans le Spitsberg.
Le 30/06/1693, une escadre commandée par le Capitaine Antoine d’Arcy de la Varenne quitte Saint Jean-de-Luz pour interrompre le commerce de la pêche à la baleine que font les hollandais dans le Spitzberg.
Le capitaine de La Varenne commande le Pélican, le capitaine Louis de Harismendy commande le Favory, le capitaine Joannis de Suhigaraychipy (dit Coursic ou Croisic) commande l'Aigle et le capitaine Jacques Gouin de Beauchêne, corsaire de Saint-Malo, commande le Prudent.
Ils prendront ou détruiront plus de 26 navires ennemis au cours des combats, principalement dans la baie des Ours.
