Frederick Cotterell's initial voyage in Nyaden was north around Norway, to attack Russians in the Kola and other areas as far as Archangelsk. He was completely successful. Some of the views of the HMS Nyaden 36 would have been amazing - coming out of a snow squall for example. In the Kola he used boats for a cutting out expedition that netted more than 20 coastal trading vessels. Reading his log shows him to have been a no nonsense careful and diligent officer.
