Death of his daughterW022
His Daughter Dorothea would appear to have died in December 1662 according to Pepy's Diary the strange burning of Mr. De Laun, a merchant’s house in Loathbury, and his lady (Sir Thomas Allen’s daughter) and her whole family; not one thing, dog nor cat, escaping; nor any of the neighbours almost hearing of it till the house was quite down and burnt. How this should come to pass, God knows, but a most strange thing it is! (Pepy's Diary 29th December 1662).

London Gazette 1668 Pembroke Dec. 17: Letters of the 10th inst. from Naples, assure us of the arrival there on the Tuesday before of Sir Thomas Allen with his squadron of six Men of War, one Yacht, and one Fireship, from the coast of Barbary, where he has settled all affairs with honour and satisfaction: On his arrival he saluted the place with 15 guns, which were returned with the same manner.

The London Gazette Oct. 12, 1668 - Cadis, September 23, Sir Thomas Allen with a squadron under his command departed some days since from this place, and is safely arrived at Tangier, only the Tyger Fregat endeavouring to put in there, spent her fore-mast, and main-top and has since came in again hither to repair. Sir Thomas Allen lying off this bay was complemented and saluted by the Holland Squadron of of six men of war their Admiral giving 15 guns to his Majesty's Flag, which Sir Tho, returned with a like number
