Good evening! I am distantly related to a Samuel Blyth (born circa 1820) who married my relative Ann Bradney Shipley on Feb 1st 1844. What I'm hoping you can tell me is, although on the marriage certificate her bridegroom, Samuel Blyth's father is a Samuel Blyth (Gent) of Cheltenham, how does he relate to Commander Samuel Blyth? Incidentally, her father is a James Shipley - a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy.

Samuel Blyth was my great great great grandfather. A commemoration with military honours was held in the Eastern Cemetery, Portland, Maine on 5.9.2013, attended by State dignitaries, the Assistant Naval Attache and relatives of both Samuel Blyth and William Burrowes, captain of the USS Enterprise.
