London, 12 February 1801: Yesterday a Court of directors was held at the East India House, when Capt Thomas Garland Murray, of the Preston, and John Jones, of the Boddam, were sworn into the command of their respective ships. The following commanders took leave, previous to departing for their several destinations:- Capt Thomas Graham, of the Windham, for St Helena, Bengal, and Bencoolen; Capt Robert Wardlow, of the Asia, for Madras and Bengal; Capt George Saltwell, of the Lord Duncan, for St Helena and Bengal; Capt James Sandilands, of the Walpole, for Madras and Bengal; Capt Thomas G Murray, of the Preston, for Bengal; and Capt John Jones, of the Boddam, for Madras and China.
