The Board of Admiralty are about to erect a superb monument in St Paul’s, to the memory of the gallant Captain Burgess, who fell in the action of the 11th of October, with the Dutch fleet, while commanding his Majesty’s ship Ardent. [Hampshire Chronicle, 24 February 1798]
