7.168312.1683He is in the Algiers Bombardment, Duquesne Squadron. M. de Motheux sends Choiseul , ensign serving as lieutenant aboard the frigate La Gentille, with a rowboat, near the harbor chain. Surrounded by enemy boats, he is taken prisoner. He must be executed, attached to the muzzle of a cannon, but is saved by an Algerian privateer, named HALI, who recognized him; it had previously been taken by a French ship, commanded by the Chevalier de Lery , on which Choiseul was serving and had obtained his freedom. He will be sent to prison and released in December.ref:673
