15.10.1693 Order to give Sieur Ravary a lieutenancy in Martinique in the company of Sieur de la Potterie in place of Sieur Gaston . Mr Ravary was a Creole from Isle St Christophe, that is to say born on this island. He had joined the detached companies of the Navy after the English had driven the French from this island in 1691. François d’Alesso , Marquis d’Eragny had made him Lieutenant without a certificate, to the good pleasure of the Court: he had come to France with the Sieur d'Eragny and for the same reasons; he came away with a patent and a promise to be advanced .ref:673
