He embarked on the "Coquille" under the orders of Duppery .Leaving Toulon on August 11, 1822 , he returned to France , to Marseille , on April 24, 1825 .He brings back important collections.Mineralogical , 330 specimens , botany , 3000 specimens including 400 unknown , zoological , 2000 species including 146 unknown , anthropological (He notably reports 3 mummified Maori heads) .During the trip he also tested the second generation of canned food , in metal cans .This remarkable record earned him in July 1825 the praise of Cuvier at the Academy of Sciences and his promotion to first-class pharmacist .ref:673
