1761 Antoine Marie Desforges-Boucher is known to have refused Lieutenant Barthélémy Castellan du Vernet to provide him with a ship to come to the aid of Malagasy captives to be sold as slaves in Rodrigues but abandoned on Tromelin Island , after the shipwreck in 1761 of the slave ship "Utile" which transported them from Madagascar to the island of France (Mauritius) : "Utile" going against order to not do slavery , to not adding mens to the Colony because of low reserves of foods .FWIKI

1781 The Conseil of Despatches reports that Desforges-Boucher begged the king for a suspension of 3 years for the payment of debts contracted in France , the Bourbon Islands and France and which he had accumulated because , he said , of the loss of 236000 Livres which he had advanced to various colonists who had become insolvent (without being able to provide proof of this) , 8 years of poor administration by a manager of his multiple dwellings in Bourbon (worth more than one million Livres) , the hurricane of 1772 , an 8-month drought and two other hurricanes the following year . He assures that future sales of his foodstuffs in France will enable him to repay his debts .FWIKI
