COMMANDER

1. He was commissioned in North America on 01 Dec 1782 by RAdm Thomas Graves as Commander, HMS Britannia, Armed Ship; confirmed by Admiralty (ADM 6/23, p.106).

2. He was commissioned in North America by RAdm Robert Digby as Commander, Otter, Sloop, on 14 Dec 1782; confirmed by Admiralty on 25 Apr 1784 (ADM 6/23, p.215)

3. He was commissioned in North America by RAdm Robert Digby as Commander, Atalanta, Sloop on 13 Mar 1783; confirmed by Admiralty 18 Mar 1785 (ADM 6/23, p.273)
