I own his logbook 1792-4 while CiC Jamaica Station, very clear handwriting. Anyone interested for research may contact me.

His will PROB 11/1279/154 was free to download from the National Archives during the covid shutdown and although the writing is hard to interpret I believe some of the transcriptions are not correct, for example I think Kirkland may be Richard and Elizabeth's husband might be Stevenson? Jane's husband may be Maddork or Maddock? etc.

Edinburgh Advertiser April 25, 1775 - Tuesday last, was carried into the Port of Newcastle, seized by Capt. Ford of the Hazard sloop of war, a large smuggling chaloupe, with a large quantity of Geneva, tea, etc. mounted with four carriage guns and ten swivel guns, and otherwise well armed. She is a very swift sailer. The Captain of the Hazard discovered her under the pretence of being a collier with which she made up to trade and barter. The cargo is valed at l. 1000
