His correct date of commissioning is June 1st, not June 11th, when he was commissioned Lieut., Seahorse (6th/24)in the East Indies by RAdm Sir Robert Harland (confirmed by Admiralty on 29 June 1775 [ADM 6/21,p.100]) replacing Lieut. James Francis Edward Drummond, dismissed from the service by sentence of a court-martial on 30 May 1774 (ADM 1/5306).
