1.1809 At Corunna BWAS-1793

ADM 101/89/2/Journal of HMS Barfleur by Henry Plowman, Surgeon, for 9 March 1808 and 8 March 1809, during which time the Barfleur was employed in Portsmouth Harbour, Spithead, off the River Tagus, Vigo Bay, Corunna Harbour,Cawsand Bay and off Cadiz. HMS Barfleur also acted as a hospital ship to receive the military wounded of the battleof Corunna.

Alexander Hood who was captain of HMS Barfleur in 1782 was not Lord Bridport (sir Samuel's brother), that Alexander having been recently made rear admiral of the blue. It was Alexander, Sir Samuel's cousin who sailed round the world with Cook as a boy seaman and finished his career and died in a famous ship to ship action in Mars. I do not think that either of these Alexanders had a middle name Arthur since they both had brothers by that name

I have in my possession a signed document dated 12th July 1794 signed by Cuthbert Collingwood confirming the duties of Midshipman Edwards under his command on the ship HMS Barfleur from feb to july 1794.
