The Providence Gazette March 21, 1812 p.6
The French frigate La Pomone of 46 guns and 350 men, has been taken in the Mediterranean by the British frigate Active, Capt. Gordon, after a bloody conflict, in which the French Commander and his Lieutenant were killed, and 26 of his crew killed and wounded. Capt. Gordon lost his leg and had but few of his people killed or wounded.
