The Southern Campaign American Revolution Pension Statements & Rosters (W22231) states that George T Sloan "was pensioned at the rate of $56.66 per annum commencing March 4th, 1831, for 11 months & 10 days service in the South Carolina Navy as a Sergeant & mariner on the frigate Trumbull." Can he be added to the crew?

Review of Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty-Land Application Files 1800-1900 showed Jacob Bamper (b. 1757) served as a midshipman on the Trumbull, embarking from Philadelphia on the cruise during which Trumbull was taken by the Iris. Can Jacob Bamper be included as crew of this vessel?

We are informed from the Marine Office, that on the 29th day of November last, the Court appointed to enquire into the cause of the loss of the Trumbull frigate, by capture, made their report "that the loss of the said frigate did not proceed from neglect of duty, or cowardice of Capt. Nicholson, or any of his commissioned officers" with their opinion, "That everything possible was done for the honor of the flag of the United States.
