From on board the Monk in Kinsale Harbour, May 9. Capt. Camock, Commander of Her Majesty's Ship the Monk, having intelligence that several of the Ennemies Privateers were cruizing off the Cape, set sail off the 28th of the last month, and the same day took a privateer called the Salamander, of 16 guns, and 150 men, belonging to Havre de Grace. On the 29th the Captain retook a ship called the Boyle Galley of about 250 Tons and of the Valor of 8000 Pounds, belonging to Cork. After this the Captain met with the Oxford Galley from Barbadoes, and two other Gallies which he saw safe into Crookhaven, where he landed 10 guns, made 2 Batteries on each side the Harbour, raised the Militia, and intrenched each side, so that it was impossible for them to be attacked, and then he sail in pursuit of the enemy. In the Captain's Absence, one of the privateers of 40 guns, sent his Boat te the Harbour with a Flag for the Veffels there to surrender or ransom but they firing both from on board and from the Batteries on shore, he soon left them. The next day the Captain got sight of the same Privateer, and after two hours engagement took her ; she is called the Count Giraldin of St. Maloes of 40 guns and 355 men, commanded by Captain du Pre. The enemy had 30 men killed and 10 wounded, without the loss of 1 person belonging to Her Majesty. The Ships retaken and saved around to upwards the value of 50000 Pounds
