Star (London) - Thursday 28 January 1808

PLYMOUTH, JAN. 26. Came in the Marsouin French lugger privateer of 14. guns and 50 men, from St. Maloe's, which place she sailed from about a week since, and after being at sea two days, was captured off the Lizard by the Iris, of 32 guns ; she had not taken any thing during her short cruize, but was about to take possession of three British brigs at the time the Iris fell in with her; and but for this ship would have carried them off.— By this lugger we have an account, that the Etalionj and Sirenne French frigates, had escaped from St. Maloe's, but their destination is not stated. It was reported at St. Maloe's that the Brest fleet were also out, as well as the Rochefort squadron. Came in the Grand Argus French lugger privateer, of 14 guns and 40 men, taken by the Seine, of 40 gulls, off the Lizard ; she had been three days from Granville, and had not taken any thing. Sailed the Isis, of 50 guns, with the East India ships under convoy.

Hello,
I'm a descendant of a foreman on "Le Marsouin". He was killed in action in 1807. Do you have any informations about fights of this ship or how he was captured by Iris(32) ?
Thank you very much
