BGSpider, in Stonehouse Pool, SIR, May 17, 1797.
I have the honor to inform you, that on the 16th Instant, being then 6 leagues to the Southward of the Lizard, in His Majesty's Schooner under my command, I gave chace to a Brig, which I soon perceived to be an enemy ; when after receiving the fire of her stern chaces and a smart run for 3 hours, I had the pleasure of capturing her close under the Lizard. She proves to be the Flibustier Privateer, of 14 guns (4 of which were thrown overboard in the chace) and 70 men, commanded by M. Henry Capel, 11 days from St. Malo, and had not made any capture.
I have the Honor to &c. &c. &c.
DIGBY DENT.
