Copy of a letter from Captain Edward Bowater, Commander of His Majesty's'Ship Trent, to Evan Nepean, Esq; dated Tarmouth Roads, June 27, 1797
SIR, will please to inform my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty of my having captured this day, 10 leagues to the Eastward of Yarmouth, a French Lugger Privateer, nammed the Poisson Volant, mounting 14 carriage guns and 50 men ; the guns were thrown overboard during the chace, and 28 of the men were in. Two Prizes (a Ship and a Brig) she had taken some days before off Buckiness. The Lugger is quite new, well found, and sails fast ; left Havre de Grace 18 days since.
I have the Honor to be, &c.
EDWARD BOWATER
