Admiralty-Office, November 18, 1809.

Admiral Sir Roger Curtis, Commander in Chief at Portsmouth, has transmitted to John Wilson Croker, Esq;

A letter from the Honourable Captain Dundas, of the Euryalus, to Captain Sir Richard King, of the Achille, stating the capture, by the former ship, off Cherbourg, of the French Privateer Lugger L'Etoile, of 14 guns and 48 men, out from the Hogue 2 days, without making any capture.

HCA 32/1019/1720 as indexed online refers to the capture vessel as L'Etoile (master Del Pierre). I'm afraid I can not find any reference to the Etoile (or Etoile No. 2) in ADM 103 at all.
If you have copies of the originals, which is what I assume from the information you have given, I would be delighted to see them.

The Etoile no. 2 was built in Boulogne in 1809. (HCA 32/1019) Captain Pierre Delpierre, of Boulogne. Lieutenants 1) Philippe Deletre, 2) Francois Terrier, 3) Jean Aimable Anquetil

The British may have refered to her as Etoile no. 2, but this is a French vessel and the name is correct.

I think the correct name for this vessel is "Etoile no. 2". The prize case file is in TNA, (HCA 32/1019) and includes the French crew list, which shows that there were a number of American POWs in France on the crew.
