London, 6 February 1750: Capt Drake, of the Mercury man of war, writes from Plymouth, that, on the 27th of last month, the Norfolk Indiaman had got twenty leagues to the westward of Scilly, when a south-west wind set in, and continued to blow very hard; and on Thursday last, at the close of the evening, he lost sight of the said Indiaman, it being very dark, and blowing extremely hard: Scilly then bore east about twelve leagues.
