London, 5 March 1801: Yesterday a Court of Directors was held at the East India House, when the following commanders took leave, previous to departing for their respective destinations: Capt Thomas Wall, of the Duke of Buccleugh, for China; Capt John Wordsworth, jun, of the Abergavenny, for ditto; Capt George Gooch, of the Sir Stephen Lushington, for Madras and Bengal; and Capt John Dale, of the Lord Thurlow, for ditto.
