The following are the only ships now remaining to arrive of the season, 1800, viz: the extra ship Melville Castle, Captain John Lambe; the Travers, Capt Thomas Sanders; and the Skelton Castle, Captain Matthew Isaacke, from Bengal; with the Rockingham, Capt Thomas Butler, from Fort St George and Bengal. The Ganges, Capt Alexander Gray, is the only ship remaining to arrive from China. The Company’s ships the Henry Addington, Ocean, and Nottingham, which sailed from Portsmouth the 9th of January last, are expected to arrive from Bombay and China in April or May next. The Dover Castle, Duke of Montrose, Charlton, Sir Stephen Lushington, Calcutta, Asia, and Walpole, are the next ships to arrive from Madras and Bengal. [London Courier, 8 December 1801]

I am researching this family. Is it possible that the James and Joseph Dorin listed are one and same?

In January 1793 Robert Kitson sent his daughter Nancy to England in the ship “Duke of Montrose’ under Captain Joseph Dorin, with a native woman as servant, under the charge of Mr and Mrs James Tod. 1,000 rupees were paid for the passage. They arrived at Portsmouth on 9 June 1793.
