A more accessible report of the 1799 legal case ("D Blanchford and another, Executors of G. Blanchford, against Preston"):

"in 1791 the Foulis was lost at sea with the captain on board in her passage from Madras to Bencoolen"

According to a 1799 legal action, 'on the 8th of July 1795, another ship was built on the bottom of the "Foulis," called the "Cirencester" '

The Cirencester appears to be this ship:

According to Helsby's History of Cheshire, John Brooksbank of Tytherington (b. 1764 ?) was "supposed to have been lost at sea on board the Foulis East Indiaman"
