Plymouth Lugger , March 31 , 1797 .
SIR , I have the pleasure to acquaint you , that , on the 29th , after a chace of 8 hours, and ex-changing a few shot, I captured (the Gasket Light bearing E. by N. distant 3 Leagues) "L'Amitié" a french pPrivateer of 14 guns (6 of which they had thrown overboard  and 55 Men , belonging to St Malo , but last from Roscoff , from which port they had been but 3 days; during that time they had made no captures.  She is schooner-rigged , sails fast , and about 60 or 70 Tons Burthen .
