Copy of a letter from Admiral Peyton, Commander in Chief of His Majesty's Ships and Vessels in the Downes , to Evan Nepean , Esq ; dated the 23 of April , 1797 .
SIR ,
I pleased to inform their Lordships , that I have received a letter from Captain Lloyd , of  His Majesty's Sloop Racoon , acquainting me , that at 1 A.M. on the 2th Instant , Fairiigiu bearing N. N. E. distance about 5 or 6 Leagues , he gave chace to a cutter, and at 3 came up with and captured "Les Amis" french privateer , mounting 2 carriage guns 4- Pounders , 6 swivels, and manned with 31 men , which left Boulogne the preceding evening at 7 , and had only captured one vessel , which he had the good fortune to retake the "Good Intent" , James Marshall,  Master , in ballas t, bound and belonging to Sunderland .
