in addition at the time the Midshipman was a Michael Gandy. The logs he wrote still exist and were sold by Marshall's Rare Books.

in my geneaology search i found a George Ross who was the Boatswain aboard the Braave in 1803. he married in Portsea in 1804 aged 22.

12 Jun 1802 Imperieuse38 Captain Josias Rowley arrived Spithead from the Cape of Good Hope with Captain Alexander, late of the Braave, a passenger.
