Thanks for the detailed information. I am researching a man called Christopher Crow Linstead who was a Midshipman on Board His Majesty's Ship Dreadnougt. He died on board in 1760 aged 24, and his will can be read in the The National Archives' reference PROB 11/854/113. He leaves his goods to his parents Nicholas and Mary Linstead of Great Yarmouth, Nofolk. Does anyone know anything about the campaign/conflict he may have been present at. It looks like the ship was in Jamaica in 1760. Thanks, Sarah

Gunner of HMS Dreadnought was Stephen Foster from March 1745 to September 1748. Source: ADM\B\177
Later Gunner of HMS Somerset and subsequently HMS Royal George. Died in 1808. His headstone describes him as 'the oldest seaman in His majesty's service'.
