For sale by the candle, at the London Tavern, in Plymouth, on Wednesday the 20th of September 1780, immediately after the sale of the brigantine Francois, the two new luggers, Le Jeun Lion, and Le Renard, the former about 60 tons, and the latter about 70, each pierced for 14 guns, and respectively mounted that number, besides swivels, when chased by his Majesty’s frigate Hussar, Charles M Pole, Esq, commander, by whom they were both taken. They are admirable fine sailers, and beyond all dispute may be justly deemed the most complete vessels of the sort that have been offered for sale this War,, now lying at Plymouth, and there to be delivered. Vaughan, Winne, and Margetson, Brokers. [Exeter Flying Post, 1 September 1780]
