Edinburgh Advertiser, May 9, 1780
Intelligence from Lloyds list, Extract of a letter from Yarmouth, April 29 - Yesterday arrived the Jason frigate, Capt. Pigot, bound for the Elbe, with nine transports; the day before, about 10 leagues, off Leostoff fell in with three French privateers, from 18 to 30 guns, which engaged the Jason, but she obliged them to sheer off after losing her fore-top-mast gallant, and the head of her fore-topmast, her sails and rigging lightly damaged, and four men wounded, one of which is since dead. The transports separated. Five of them are here with the Jason. The rest we have no account of.
