London, 25 April 1752: Thursday might came on before the Lords of Appeal for Prizes at the Cockpit, Whitehall, the final determination of the Magnanime, a man of war of 70 guns, taken by his Majesty’s ships Nottingham and Portland, at which time their Lordships were pleased to confirm the sentence heretofore given by the Judge of Admiralty at Doctors Commons , viz, that the Anson, Tavistock, Centurion, Gloucester, and Culloden , who were on a joint cruize with the Nottingham and Portland, should share equally alike with the two ships that took her. [Kentish Post, 29 April 1752]
