For his records on Three Decks see 'Blumfield Barradall' as recorded in Syrett and DiNardo and as spelt in original ADM 6 records. He was commissioned captain of the Stirling Castle on 23 Jan 1745/6 (ADM 6/17) and apparently commanded until Dec 1747 when the ship paid off. The dates of commission are correct and supported by ADM 6 records. The commission as commander was 1 Feb 1742/3 and that as Lieutenant 17 mar 1731/32 in Jamaica by Adm Wager and not confirmed until 6 June 1732.

He does appear to have commanded the Falkland between Aug 1746 and Oct 1747 (from ADM 106 letters), but there is no extant commission to confirm the dates.

Captain Bloomfield or Blumfield Barradell (with other spellings, such as Barrowdale), not Thomas Grenville was captain of Falkland in 1746–47. BWAS-1714, p. 149: "In 1746". Accounts of the First Battle of Cape Finisterre list him as captain of Falkland then (May 3/14, 1747). Charnock, V, 279 agrees but doesn't have much else about him. I couldn't find a personal entry for him here, but he is in contemporary lists of R.N. captains and in Syrett & DiNardo: Lt. Mar. 17, 1732; Cdr., Feb. 1, 1743 (PRO; I assume this is in the unofficial, not the official, year); Capt. June 18, 1744; † Nov. 25, 1749 (source: "M" in my notes, perhaps NMM). If an entry is added for him, there should be cross-references to the various spellings.
