Deployed for India from Spithead 19 FEB 1745, arrived Madras, India by 12 FEB 1746// From British newspaper report:
Extract of a Letter from Portsmouth, Feb. 19. This Morning sailed from Spithead his Majesty’s Ships of War the Ipswich, Admiral Medley, Jersey, Gosport, Winchster, Harwich, Ludlow Castle, and Maidstone, with nine East India Men and upwards of 100 Sail of Merchant Ships, bound to Lisbon, Oporto, Gibraltar, and Port Mahon. Yesterday sailed his Majesty’s Ship the Falkland, Capt. Granville, on a Cruize for six Months. We hear the Winchester and Harwich Men of War are to go all the way to India with the East India Men, having taken in Provisions and stores accordingly, besides a supply for the Squadron that went out in May last under the Command of Commodore Barnet.
