London. 8 February 1752: Commodore Pye is appointed Captain of the Advice man of war, and commander of a squadron which is to sail to the Leeward Islands, and to relieve Commodore Holbourn at Barbadoes. [Kentish Post, 12 February 1752]

London, 6 February 1752: On Tuesday the Lords of the Admiralty gave the command of his Majesty’s ship the Advice, to Capt Pye, an experienced officer, and appointed Richard Hughes second, and Mr Rawlins third Lieutenants. [Kentish Post, 8 February 1752]
