Saturday arrived at Falmouth, his Majesty’s packet St George, Captain Yescombe, with a mail from Lisbon, which place she left on the 3d instant. This packet brings the melancholy account of the loss of his Majesty’s ship Weymouth, Captain Crofton, on the 21st January, in attempting to get into the Tagus for the purpose of refitting; she struck on the bar, and soon after went to pieces: no stores of any kind were saved, but fortunately no lives were lost. The Weymouth sailed from Portsmouth with the Cambrian Rangers for Gibraltar. [Hull Packet, 25 February 1800]
