London, 13 April 1721: This week Capt Davis arrived on board the Experiment man of war, being one of the squadron that cruized on the coast of Barbary, and has brought over the Treaty of Peace concluded between Capt Steward, his Majesty’s Ambassador and Plenipotentiary, and the Minister of the Emperor of Morrocco, and as soon as the same is sent back again and ratified, and the English captives ransomed Capt Steward will return to England, on board the Winchelsea, in the mean time the Dover and Sheerness, 2 ships of his squadron, are ordered home. The said Capt Davis since his arrival, has been made Capt of the Jersey man of war, one of the guard ships lately put into commission. [Newcastle Courant, 22 April 1721]
