Plymouth, 12 February 1801: The Polly transport, which arrived here yesterday from Guernsey, has on board part of the 49th and 85th regiments of foot. The former were taken out of the Denton transport, wrecked on that island last Monday. Both vessels in a heavy gale of wind, were driven close to the shore; the Polly rode out the gale, but the latter went ashore: and the crew and troops would have been lost had it not been for assistance from the Polly. The Polly was convoyed to this port by the Rambler of 14 guns. [London Packet, 16 February 1801]
