Quimperlé is typically a "bridge town" , born at the place where the first bridge over the estuary was traditionally located , at the limit between the maritime part and the river part of the valley . The progressive siltation of the Laïta accentuated the difficulties of navigation , Jacques Cambry already mentioned them in 1794-1795 .
