Sir Henry Peake

My late mother Shirley May Peake was the great grand daughter of Henry Peake who I believe left Sulfolk UK to settle in South Australia. I purchased property in Rowland flat. I have only recently been interested in genealogy and find it fascinating that I once worked in the premium wholesale wine industry without reading my mother's published family tree and got into competitive yacht racing at a high level for a middle aged person over the age of 50. I spend alot of time with a shipwright. I wonder if if I may be related to Sir Henry Peake. I was kept from my maternal Grandfather, started writing to him in my 20's and met him in Toronto Canada when I was 30. He, Arthur Leslie Peake left Australia when I was about 5, when he and my mother, his only child fell out about my "father". I am considering changing my name to Peake in honour of my late mother.I was born in 1964.

Amendment of above -Henry Peake was born in 1753, His own Children were born in the early 1780s . In 1786 his father Henry Peake Master shipwright of Deptford requested his son Henry Peake (1753-1723) be discharged from Sheerness and entered as quarter man and foreman at Deptford. This is the start of Sir Henry Peake's career. Henry Peak Senior made his will in March 1787 and died in 1793

Henry Peake who was Master Shipwright at Sheerness 1779, Woolwich 1782and Deptford 1785 died at Deptford 1787. It was his son also Henry Peake who was Master Shipwright at Deptford in 1804 who went on to become Sir Henry Peake Surveyor of the Navy
