The Bienfaisant, a French man of war of 64 guns, which was blown out of Rochfort in the late storm, is put into Kinsale, in Ireland, a mere wreck. [Kentish Gazette, 22 February 1772]

For sale by the candle, at the London Tavern, in Foxhole-street, Plymouth, on Friday the 29th of September, 1780, the large private ship of war, of 64 guns, Le Compte d’Artois, (prize to his Majesty’s ship Bienfaisant, and others), a prime sailor, French built at Bourdeaux, burthen 1500 tons, more or less, abounds with warlike and all other necessary stores… She is, beyond all dispute, a ship highly deserving the attention of the publick, being the most capital one, by far, that has been offered for sale this War. Now lying at Plymouth, and there to be delivered. Vaughan, Winne, and Margetson, Brokers. [Exeter Flying Post, 15 September 1780]

For sale by the candle at the London Tavern, in Plymouth, on Wednesday, the 20th of September 1780, the good ship, Le Marguerite, an extraordinary fine sailer, square stern, built at Nantz, about four years since, burthen 450 tons, more or less, is a remarkably well-built vessel… she was taken on her passage from St Domingo to France by his Majesty’s ship Monarch, Adam Duncan, Esq, commander, in sight of the fleet under Admiral Geary, but afterwards retaken by the Duc d’Artois, French private ship of war of 64 guns, and lately retaken by his Majesty’ ship Bienfaisant, John Macbride, Esq, commander, who brought her into the port of Plymouth, where she now lies to be delivered to the purchaser.
