Chatham, 21 January 1780: The shipwrights in this yard finished coppering the Aeolus, of 32 guns, this day, and have got the Bellona remarkably forward. All the hard work under the copper bottoms is now done with a composition of copper and brass, instead of iron; it having been found that in long voyages the iron work is so much damaged by the copper as to be attended with dangerous consequences. The following ships are now getting ready in Chatham dock yard, the Bellona of 74, Atlas of 90, Diadem of 64, Leander of 50, Dolphin of 44, and the Amphion frigate of 32 guns. The shipwrights work two tide extra. [Exeter Flying Post, 7 January 1780]

Casualties in the attack off Copenhagen on 2 April 1801:
Killed – 9 seaman, 2 marines
Wounded – 48 seamen, 10 marines
Total killed and wounded – 74
Officers wounded – Sir T B Thompson, Bart, Captain, lost his leg; Thomas Southey, Lieutenant; Thomas Wilks, Lieutenant, slightly; Captain Alexander Sharp, 49th regiment, badly; Mr James Emmerton, Master’s Mate; Mr Edward Daubenny, Mr Wm Sitford, Mr Fig, Midshipmen. [Morning Post, 16 April 1801]
