Eurydice, at Sea, Lat 48. 42N Long 12. 5 W: Captain W Bathurst to Captain Larcom – I am happy to inform you, that at half past seven PM, I came up with and captured the vessel we received information of yesterday at noon; which proved to be the Bougainville, French brig privateer, of St Maloes, Citizen Jaques le Bon, commander, of 128 tons, mounting 14 guns of different calibre, and 67 men; out three days, and had made no capture. [Hampshire Telegraph, 18 May 1801]

Portsmouth, 16 May 1801: Yesterday arrived the Eurydice, of 24 guns, Capt Bathurst, after convoying the Quebec fleet to a certain latitude. On her return she captured the Bougainville French privateer, of 14 guns, 60 men; and the Gustavus Adolphus, a Danish East Indiaman, laden with tea and china, which she detained in the Channel; both of which are arrived. [Hampshire Telegraph, 18 May 1801]

Previous relates to the sale of the ship and cargo at the Star and Garter Tavern, Portsmouth, on Monday, 11 November 1799.

The hull of the Danish ship Der Mohr, burthen about 250 tons, Daniel Helmer late master, from the Havannah, detained by his Majesty’s shjps Topaze and Eurydice, and afterwards wrecked on the west end of the Isle of Wight. Also her yards, topmasts, rigging, , sails, anchors, cables, &c, and 19 bales of damaged cotton; a quantity of damaged cochineal, saved from the wreck of the said ship… Mr Lindegren, Portsmouth. [Hampshire Telegraph, 11 November 1799]

My 3xGreat Grandfather, Thomas McRobb (aka McRabb) served in Eurydice from September 1803 to April 1807.
