Gosport, 18 April 1751: On Friday the money for the paying off his Majesty’s ship Renown, was brought to the Pay-Office in the dock yard, escorted by a party of the Horse Grenadiers. On Tuesday the officers and company of the Renown, were paid off, and the ship put out of commission. [Kentish Post, 24 April 1751]

London, 23 March 1751: Yesterday advice came that the Renown man of war, Capt Shirley, was arrived at Gosport, from Jamaica; having on board a considerable sum of money, for the use of the merchants. [Kentish Post, 27 March 1751]
