Portsmouth, 23 May 1801: Tuesday, the Resistance, a new frigate, was commissioned by Captain Digby, on board of which ship Lieutenant Madden, with a party of Marines, will embark on Monday. [Hampshire Telegraph, 25 May 1801]

Portsmouth, 2 May 1801: On Wednesday the Resistance frigate was launched at Buckler’s Hard, and yesterday she came into this harbour. She is a remarkable fine ship. [Hampshire Telegraph, 4 May 1801]
