Portsmouth, 21 October 1815: On Tuesday, Joseph Marten, seaman, of HM ship Saracen, whilst furling the mainsail of that ship, fell from the yard upon the rattlings, and thereby so injured his spinal marrow, that he died in consequence, in a short time afterwards. [Hampshire Telegraph, 23 October 1815]
