Described as a sloop but possibly in error as the only RN ship of that name was a 74-gun.

Portsmouth, 24 January 1801: Arrived two Danish vessels of considerable value, detained by the Ant and Advice cutters, and another, valued at £10,000 detained by the beaver, Captain Jones: also arrived the Julian and Two Friends, two other Danish vessels, detained by the Harpy and Saturn sloops. Portsmouth, 3 January 1801: The Anson, of 40 guns, Capt Durham, was this day, through the great exertions of the officers and shipwrights, who worked all night, taken out of dock, and the Saturn, of 74 guns, taken in. [Hampshire Telegraph, 5 January 1801]

A Court Martial was last week held at Portsmouth on Lieutenant Everard of his Majesty’s ship Saturn, for writing an anonymous letter to the Lords of the Admiralty, imputing improper conduct to Captain Cumberland, and for deserting from the Saturn, on the 2d ult, and for taking with him his servant boy without leave. Lieutenant Everard acknowledged to have written the letter, although he previously publicly denied it. It was upon a declaration of the circumstances, that the Lords of the Admiralty were pleased to order Lieutenant Everard to be tried by a Court Martial. The Court upon a full examination into the conduct of Lieutenant Everard, determined, that the charge had been proved, and did adjudge him to be dismissed his Majesty’s service, and rendered incapable of ever serving as an officer in the Royal Navy again.
