20 December 1847 HMS Sealark commissioned at Chatham – Commander William Backhouse Moneypenny [The Times, Saturday, Dec 25, 1847; pg. 3; Issue 19742]
1847-1850 – West Africa Squadron
6 October 1849 capture slaver Francellina. Prize money awarded. [Portsmouth Times and Naval Gazette 08 March 1851]
14 November 1849 captured un-named slaver. Prize money awarded. [Portsmouth Times and Naval Gazette 24 May 1851]
May 1850 Paid off at Portsmouth. During her commission the Sealark has captured six slavers, but empty. [The Times, Thursday, May 02, 1850; pg. 8; Issue 20478]
